firstly backup means storing the data for recovery purpose in case failure occur in future. now patial backup means online bakup when database in running state we backup the data from specific time.. Source: CoolInterview.com

partial backup is taken at archivelog mode only.the backup that is taken at tablespace level or table level is known as partial backup Source: CoolInterview.com
