Why 8086 got that name?
Answer:
The nomenclature follows:<br><br>80= Designed during 80s (released 1978)<br>6= 16Bit<br><br>I guess second "8" was so, because at the beginning of project they want to show it follows 8085. Another advantage was maybe to show this generation is source code compatible to 8085 and 8080. Therefore they should have kept it. Source: CoolInterview.com
