A HUB has maximum 10 mbps of bandwidth. Instead a switch can have tbps of bandwidth. All the ports in Hub 10 mbps bandwidth at a time, but in case of switch every port in switch can use separate bandwidth. Source: CoolInterview.com

There is no bandwidth of either the switch or hub. In real time it depends what we are purchasing from the service provider or what service provider is providing to us.

Bandwith is amount of traffic
transfered between the two system,

HUB Can Support 10 Mbps and 100 MBps ,hub uses Frequency division multiplication ,so when more number of system connected to the HUB the band with will get shared.

Hub is layer1 device, shared bandwidth, only one device could communicate at a time, they are 10mbps and 100mbps half-duplex only. Switch is layer2, and could as well do the function of higher layers. Switches are coming with bandwidth on each ports 10/100/1000 mbps, auto-negotiable, fiber or copper. 10 gig bandwith ports are also available, which is used for uplink to other switches. In switches bunching of ports is possible to increase bandwidth, whereas in hub its not possible to do such things. Source: CoolInterview.com

A hub shares the bandwidth between devices that are connected - In other words, If computer A is transferring a file to computer B then computer C cannot transfer to computer D at full speed - both transfers would become slower.

A switch manages where the computers are directing the traffic so that you can have a full speed connection between computers A and B and a full speed connection between computers C and D at the same time.

Switches and hubs can be speeds of 10Mbps, 100Mbps or 1000Mbps. Source: CoolInterview.com

A 10/100Mbps hub must share its bandwidth with each and every one of its ports. So when only one PC is broadcasting, it will have access to the maximum available bandwidth. If, however, multiple PCs are broadcasting, then that bandwidth will need to be divided between all of those systems, which will degrade performance.

A 10/100Mbps switch will allocate a full 10/100Mbps to each of its ports. So regardless of the number of PCs transmitting, users will always have access to the maximum amount of bandwidth. It's for these reasons why a switch is considered to be a much better choice then a hub. Source: CoolInterview.com
