Should a media outlet or party to a campaign or political campaign take action to correct a breach of the Official Secrets Act 2003, or other related legislation, it is the responsibility of the journalist or news editor to report this case to the police. If the matter continues to progress it will be the responsibility of the journalist or news editor to make a submission to the IPCC regarding their efforts to protect sources.
