All the mechanical engineering systems are studied with the help of thermodynamics. Hence it is very important for the mechanical engineers.

A huge mechanical work we get by heat energy.ex:~automobiles.so study of thermodynamic is very impertent in mechanical engineering.

Heat Engines is the main subject we study in Mechanical Engineering. Thermodynamics is important because the heat energy is converted in to Mechanical energy here. Heat or combustion power is basic for any source of energy and mechanical engineers use this energy to produce mechanical energy.

Thermodynamics is the combination of two greek words-'thermo-dynamics'
Thermo means thermal energy and dynamics means motion or transfer. So we can say that it is the branch of science which deals with the energy transfer or heat transfer by the effect of which work output may be obtained..
