mixture contains (3/3+2)*56=33.6 lit of milk and (2/3+2)*56=22.4 lit of water .if the ratio becomes 4:5 then mixture contains
(5/9)*56=31.11 lit of water.so the amount of water be added is
31.11-22.4=8.71 lit Source: CoolInterview.com

Total quantity=56 liters.
Let x be the no of lit. of extra water added to become the milk & water ratio as 4:5.Then
and 33.6 & 22.4 be the milk & water in the 56 liters of water respectively then.
(4/5)=(33.6/(x+22.4)
Then we will get,

Let x litre of water be required,
initial volume of milk=3/5*56
after adding water-
total volume=56+x
now volume of milk=4/9*(56+x)
but the volume of milk should be equal in both case
3/5*56=4/9*(56+x)
on solving-
x=19.6lts Source: CoolInterview.com
